REALISE Project Conducts Fire Safety Training and Drill for Staff

Monrovia, Liberia March 19, 2026– The Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment (REALISE) Project has successfully conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety Training and Drill for its staff, aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness, enhancing risk mitigation, and promoting a culture of occupational health and safety across its operations.

The training, held in Monrovia, brought together staff from various components of the project and focused on both theoretical instruction and practical simulation exercises. It forms part of the Project’s broader commitment to ensuring workplace safety, hazard identification, and incident response readiness.

Facilitators provided in-depth sessions on key fire safety concepts including fire prevention, fire detection systems, and fire suppression techniques. Participants were introduced to different classes of fire such as Class A (ordinary combustibles), Class B (flammable liquids), Class C (electrical fires), and Class K (cooking oils and fats), along with the appropriate use of portable fire extinguishers for each category.

As part of the hands-on component, staff engaged in a live fire drill simulation, where they practiced assembly point coordination, and accountability protocols. The drill emphasized the importance of emergency exit routes, fire alarm systems, and maintaining situational awareness during a crisis.

Participants were also trained in the correct operation of firefighting equipment using the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), ensuring that staff can respond effectively during the incipient stage of fire development.
