The Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment (REALISE) Project is concluding beneficiaries’ recruitment for Round Three of its Community Livelihood and Agriculture Support Program across Nimba, Bong, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Bomi, Lofa, and Grand Gedeh Counties.
This milestone marks another significant step in the Project’s continued efforts to expand economic opportunities, strengthen household incomes, and promote sustainable livelihoods in communities.
The recruitment exercise is being carried out through a transparent, inclusive, and community-driven process, ensuring that the most vulnerable individuals were fairly selected through a lottery process.
Working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and implementation partners, the REALISE Project ensured that selection criteria were clearly communicated and that communities actively participate in validating eligible beneficiaries.
“As you are selected today, I want you to know that this project is here to help reduce poverty by uplifting individuals and communities to a better level.” — Jesse Bengu, REALISE Project Coordinator, speaking to beneficiaries at the project recruitment ceremony in Lofa County.
Round Three places strong emphasis on community development, livelihoods and agriculture, targeting 16200 households in all eight implementation counties.
Component lead Anita Marshall expressed appreciation to county administrations, district officials, traditional leaders, and community members for their cooperation throughout the recruitment process. “Your engagement was instrumental in ensuring credibility, ownership, and smooth implementation at the community level”. She told local leaders.
With beneficiaries’ recruitment almost now completed, the REALISE Project will move into the next phase of implementation, which includes onboarding of beneficiaries, delivery of trainings, and disbursement of livelihood and agriculture support. As Round Three gets underway, the Project reaffirms its commitment to empowering Liberians with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to build resilient livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to local economic development.
The REALISE Project is Financed by the World Bank, French Government, Swedish Government and the Government of Liberia, Implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment.
