Monrovia, April 28, 2025 – The World Bank-financed Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment (REALISE) Project has commenced a two-week review of its implementation activities.
This technical mission will focus on key areas including finance, procurement, safeguards, communications, and the Liberia Household Social Registry, among others.
During the opening ceremony, the Project’s Task Team Leader at the World Bank, Mack Mulbah, expressed optimism about recent progress. “Let me announce that we are excited about the level of spending we have seen over the last three months,” he stated.
Mulbah also noted that “most of the issues identified during the last mission are being resolved, which is a positive sign for the project’s progress.”
He urged implementing entities to continue supporting the Project Management Team, emphasizing that the project has approximately eighteen months remaining before its conclusion.
Declaring the mission officially open, the Chairperson of the Project Steering Committee and Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. J. Cole Bangalu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. “The government remains committed to providing opportunities and an enabling environment for Liberians to pursue their livelihoods,” he said.
Minister Bangalu added, “Based on recent conversations and the draft concept for the extension of the REALISE Project, we hope the World Bank will recognize the continued need to finance social protection efforts in Liberia, particularly livelihood support initiatives.”
