REALISE Project rates satisfactorily on Overall Implementation during first Mission in 2024

Monrovia May 2, 2024: After two weeks of technical sessions, the World Bank’s Task Team Leaders and the Project Management Team of the REALISE Project have concluded the first Project Support Mission in 2024. Amongst key issues, the Mission discussed Project implementation, procurement, Finance, Safeguard and monitoring and evaluation amongst others.

The Mission expressed satisfaction on the project’s performance and urged the Project Management Team to put more efforts on the components’ activities that are slow. During the period reviewed, the project expanded its activities in additional counties under the Community Livelihood and Agriculture Support (CLAS) and the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) Programs.

Speaking on behalf of the World Bank Task Team of the REALISE Project, Mr. Mack Mulbah said, “We are delighted by the level of support we have received from the government, especially with the presence of officials from the three implementing entities during this mission”.

Remarking on behalf of the Government, the chairperson of the Project Steering Committee, Cllr. J. Cole Bangalu, Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed satisfaction with the overall project’s objectives, which is at the “benefit of the vulnerable, and also providing temporary jobs”. Minister Bangalu said, “I want to see the project providing more temporary jobs to semi-professionals who cannot find jobs after graduating from various vocational and skill training programs.

The REALISE project is targeting over fifty thousand (50,000) beneficiaries in 14 counties in Liberia. In the coming months, the Social Cash Transfer Program will deliver cash to thousands of beneficiaries in Grand Bassa and Grand Kru Counties, while the CLAS component of the Project is already supporting over five thousand beneficiaries in 192 communities in eight counties with communal farming. Component one of the project,-Support to Small Businesses, has already expanded to Margibi County and is expected to go to more communities. Component two has already conducted community engagements for round three and is expected to begin recruitment in June 2024.
